We have been advised by some customers that their browser is reporting that our SSL certificate (to allow encrypted transmission between the customer's computer and the web server) is not valid. The current SSL certificate for nzcamping.co.nz is a Class 2 Policy Validation Authority certificate valid through to the 23/02/2012. However its not the highest level of security i.e. it is not an "extended verification" certificate. However it still provides encryption for the safe transmission of data.

Before you enter any details such as your credit card number, you need to ensure that the website uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). This ensures the data is encrypted when it is sent to the server which makes it very difficult for anyone other than the intended recipient to view the data. This site uses SSL for the sending of the order details.

You can check whether this and any other website uses SSL in two ways (we recommend you use both methods) . First the URL in the address bar of your browser will contain https (not just http) e.g. http://www.stuff.co.nz is not secure, whereas https://www.nzcamping.co.nz/orderform.php is secure. The other method is to check for the "padlock". Now this varies depending on which browser you use. If you are using Firefox 2.0 or 3.0, the padlock is down the bottom of the browser window to the right in the status bar (you can check you have the status bar displaying by selecting View from the menu and make sure 'Status Bar' is checked). In Internet Explorer 7.0, the padlock is immediately to the right of the URL Address bar. Normally you can click on the padlock to get more details on the security certificate.
