Camp Description:
Take the road to Bannockburn 5km on the south side of Cromwell. Turn left just over the bridge crossing the lake at the sign saying ‘Welcome to Bannockburn Heart of the Desert’. This family orientated camp occupies a sunny plateau above Lake Dunstan. Overlooking the lake, with well grown trees, the grounds have 45 power sites and around 30 for tents. The kitchen/dining has full stoves, microwave, plenty of fridges and a TV. A wood burner in the corner and a servery makes it a homely place to relax. The clean ablutions feature four unisex maxi-showers and a disability suite. The well-equipped laundry has a bath for the wee ones. A children’s playground, and a dump site are provided. This is a great spot for fishing, swimming, boating, tramping and skiing. For the connoisseur the vineyards and restaurants are close by. Your hosts are Martine and Steve McDowell. Powered and non-powered sites are from $14 per adult per night, children are half price.
